DoS Exchange 2019 B
Nov. 17th, 2019 06:26 pmThanks for looking at my letter! I have all the information from my requests here so you don't have to mess with the AO3 interface, as well as a list of things I generally love to read and prompts for all of my requests. I hope the likes and prompts will help if you don't know where to go with my requests or if you enjoy specifically tailoring gifts to a recipient, but they are, of course, entirely optional. I tend to sign up with a specific concept or scene in mind which feeds into the prompts, but I make sure that every tag is something I would love to receive individually, so if you have an idea based on our matching that doesn't cross my DNWs, I would absolutely love to receive anything using the ideas from my requests in ways I hadn't even considered.
Note that several of my likes have long and loving explanations on why I enjoy them so much. I don't like them more than the ones without explanation. The latter I either haven't found a good way to explain yet or I ran out of energy writing the letter because Signups Are Hard. The exact same is true of my requests and prompts. Requests with fewer prompts are not any less loved.
You can find me back at AO3 at @Charientist.ao3

- Angst and Fluff: I have so much love for fluffy endings, but I often don’t find fluff palatable or sometimes even believable if there isn’t angst to balance or ‘earn’ it.
- Backstories and Missing Scenes: Anything simultaneously cannon compliant and cannon additive, especially when it re-contextualizes existing scenes and character interactions, adding depth without contradicting what was already there.
- Canon Divergence: whether it's a single scene, for-want-of-a-nail, or time travel (see time travel entry), I really love seeing how small or large changes affect a story, and learning more about a world and the characters in it by how much they persist or transform under any given change.
- Casefic & Missionfic
- Creative Problem-Solving – Rather than being given new powers or having problems resolve themselves, I love seeing characters apply themselves to a situation using what they already know and have in intelligent and creative ways.
- Emotional Hurt/Comfort – On the same lines as fluff and angst, how do a character’s internal and external struggles interact. Give me conflict and then catharsis.
- Fix-It
- Found Family
- Mutual Protectiveness
- Outsider POV
- Supportive Friendships
- Time Travel – Time Loops and Peggy Sues and Time Looped Peggy Sues, Time Travel Fix-It and Time Travel Make-it-Worse, Avoiding Paradoxes and Deliberately Creating Paradoxes, Time Travel to Any Historical Era… honestly I love it in every form
- Worldbuilding – Potential explanations and consequences for things we see in canon. Differences between what insiders and outsiders notice and understand. It’s possibly my favorite thing and a huge part of why I love DoS to begin with.
